At Hexkoel, we regard our energetic and motivated workforce as our greatest asset. We believe in looking after our people and investing in them through training and our people give their best in return. We have around 30 permanent staff members and during the harvest season this number increases to 150 approximately employees.

Hexkoel handles in excess of 15 million cartons of table grapes during the 15 to 20-week annual grape harvest, from December until April. During peak weeks the weekly intakes are well in excess of a million cartons. Getting the fruit offloaded, completing the intake processes and placing the pallets into cold storage requires a dedicated team.

Equally as important is Hexkoel’s night owl dispatch team. During the harvest the dispatch shift starts at around midnight and continues well into the early hours of the morning, with forklifts moving at speed to load the waiting container and tautliner trucks.

For our permanent workforce, the average service record at Hexkoel is around 15 years. This level of institutional knowledge at a facility such as Hexkoel is invaluable for its successful operation.
